The vision of SAIR is to transform human daily life with robots, for assisting them at home, work, and public spaces. To achieve this ambitious goal, we focus on building cutting-edge machine learning algorithms to enable robots to perceive and interact with humans and their environment.
We contributed the first UK home trial of a robot assistant to aid an individual with Motor Neurone Disease, which was led by Motor Neurone Disease Association, Toyota Great Britain and Toyota Motor Europe. This video illustrates the vision of our lab, transforming human everyday life with robots, and assisting them at home, work and public places.
The trial was the result of collaboration between the SAIR lab, Toyota Motor Europe (TME), Toyota GB, the MND Association, and illustrates how HSR can help provide everyday help to those living with impaired mobility.
Together with our colaborators, we successfully organized a special session at IEEE RO-MAN 2022, Naples, Italy.
